Social Innovation Festival 2015

Few cities offer an ecosystem of social change as rich as Washington, D.C. Within this ecosystem, DC+Acumen, Hatch International, and Social Solutions -- three organizations fueled by moral imagination -- have united to organize the Social Innovation Festival 2015. The Social Innovation Festival aims to empower, inform, and connect DC’s community of changemakers. This year’s Social Innovation Festival, Creating Social Innovation Through Tech, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, is a celebration of how innovations in business, the creative arts, and technology aid in the fight for social justice. We are taking the best ideas and spreading them through five days of workshops, speaker events, a business competition, and a hackathon.

Monday Evening Donation Yoga Classes

Every Monday from 7:30 - 8:30 pm BicycleSPACE in the Mt. Vernon Square neighborhood of Washington, DC, hosts a donation-based yoga class benefiting a local bike cause or group. From October 6 - November 24, all proceeds from these classes will be donated to Hatch International's Bandha Bikes project. The classes are led by a rotating group of excellent instructors, and if you own mat, please bring it -- otherwise, there will be some mats to lend out. The classes are frequently at capacity (22 students), so attendees are encouraged to arrive at 7:15 (10-15 minutes early) to claim their space. Class begins at 7:30 and late comers cannot be accommodated.

Hatch International would like to thank BicycleSPACE for selecting Bandha Bikes as the recipient of these donations.

The June happy hour will be hosted by DC+acumen and will feature Siiri Morley, Executive Director of Prosperity Catalyst, who will discuss the work her organization is doing to help women in distressed regions of the world thrive as skilled entrepreneurs and leaders.

Design for Social Innovation Workshop

DC+Acumen and Hatch International are sponsoring a design thinking workshop where attendees will be presented a key problem faced by a real life social entrepreneur and the design thinking tools to address the challenge.

Attendees will work in groups on addressing the challenge and each groups solution will be judge by a panel. The winning solution will be featured in UnSectored.

The price is $20.00 per person and capacity is limited to 50 participants. Tickets are available here and include a drink voucher to be redeemed from the bar. All proceeds go to Acumen.
