This week the Strays Of Abu Dhabi were requested to visit Grade 1 and grade 2 students at the CIS as part of their "focus on animals week".
The students were keen to learn more about the work SAD does and what is involved in caring for and re-homing SAD dogs
Dr Rachel gave the children an informative and interactive talk using SAD ZORA one of the Officers City 6 dogs as a demonstration dog. Her resuce story and subsequent rehabilitation were used to illustrate the stages in transforming a petrified street dog into a socialised well-balanced dog suitable for homing.
Depsite this being her first big public appearance SAD ZORA coped remarkably well and with encouragement from SAD volunteer Sue Stuart ZORA demonstrated her SIT and DOWN commands to all 60 students who were transfixed by her.
Dr Rachel brought along her own dog Miracle Max to show the children how dogs like ZORA can grow into confident well-trained dogs when they find the right home. Miracle Max demonstrated all his tricks to the students and his ability to speak on command caused an eruption of laughs from the entire room.
Max and Zora were only too happy to socialise and be loved by the students afterwards, all the thanks they needed for their hard work.
The CIS had a pleasant surprise for SAD in the form of a 720 dhs cash donation. The students had decided they wanted to make a difference and held a small collection that morning.
SAD thank the CIS students very much and rest assured every dirham of the donation will go towards making another SAD dog HAPPY.
